SCF - Suriname Conservation Foundation
The Suriname Conservation Foundation (SCF) was established in 2000, in a partnership between the Government of Suriname and Conservation International, with substantial contributions from the Global Environment Facility (GEF), and the United Nations (UNDP). The SCF is the Suriname Environment Fund par excellence, committed to the protection of Suriname's biodiversity, and protected areas in particular, both through funding projects and strategic actions that promote national economic development and the protection and preservation of Suriname's biodiversity. The projects supported by the SCF focus on biodiversity conservation, sustainable freshwater management, conservation of major ecosystems (Guyana Tropical Rain Forest, including Inselberg Ecosystems, Coastal Mangroves and Freshwater Wetlands, White & Brown Sand Savanna), green economy, and the use of medicinal plants, among others.
