Winners of ProjectK
The Project K team would like to thank all the Funds that applied in the Call for Proposals - Phase 1 of the Seed Innovation Fund. We received 27 proposals from 24 Funds, 13 from LAC and 11 from Africa, which is already a great result. These proposals were analyzed individually by 5 committee members (the committee members who submitted proposals did not participate in the selection process) and their conclusions were discussed collectively at a committee meeting in Rio de Janeiro on March 11, 2016. The proposals were judged according to specific criteria (see list below) and the committee's discussion examined both the quality of the proposals and a balance between LAC and African regions.
The following proposals were selected to provide $20,000 each to develop a feasibility study through September 2016:
List of criteria used for the analysis of proposals:
Innovation capacity (disruptive or incremental innovation)
2. Potential for financial sustainability taking into account the volume and duration of the proposed mechanism (income and cost structure)
3. Objectivity (proposal with clear idea and specific objectives)
4. Potential benefits and impacts on biodiversity and society (specific or broad? local, regional or national?)
5. Replication and scalability (in the home country and other FEs)
6. Necessary partnerships (advanced / possible engagement of partners)
7. Information (level of specific data already available and the ability to fill the information gap in time)
8. Minimum chance of success (depending on the difficulty level of the conditions enabled to be in place, risk and timeline)
Thank you to the participants and greetings from the Project K team!
