Fondo Acción launches Colombia's first climate action fund for children and consolidates the Community REDD+ portfolio
According to UNICEF, it is estimated that almost 600 million children will live in areas where there will be no safe water supply available to sustain the population in the coming decades. Given this reality, environmental funds have become an indispensable ally for environmental conservation, water resources and sustainable development. For this reason, Fondo Acción launched in May its first Climate Action Fund for Children in Colombia. This initiative will allow the financing of initiatives for access to drinking water, food security and prevention of climate disasters in vulnerable populations for the next 100 years.

In addition, the REDD+ portfolio, which consists of 19 Afro-Colombian community councils and a major indigenous council, which contribute to climate change mitigation, sustainable forest management and the good living of Pacific communities, of which Fondo Acción is a key partner, has managed to capture more than 7 million tonnes of carbon and trained more than 4,000 people in territorial and forest governance, according to data from its first verification.
