Fund for the Management of Protected Areas and Wildlife - FAPVS
The FAPVS was formed in 2009 with the purpose of generating investments in protected areas and wildlife in Honduran territory, according to the priorities of the National System of Protected Areas and Wildlife (SINAPH), being an essential actor for sustainable national development through work on ecosystems and biodiversity, with a contribution of seed capital of $ 2,460,690.
Currently, $8,663,282.47 has been invested in more than 41 protected areas nationwide, resulting in more than 3,700 families with infrastructure for sanitation, more than 1,800 direct jobs, 20 private natural reserves supported and 20 ecotourism infrastructure works built, 19,000 hectares under restoration, and 48 micro-watersheds declared among others.
