BRIDGE Project: Driving Innovative Financial Mechanisms for Biodiversity Conservation
Santa Lucia, October 10, 2024 – At the 2024 RedLAC Congress, two panels sponsored by the BRIDGE Project took center stage: “Innovation Fund: Innovative Financial Mechanisms with the Private Sector for Biodiversity Conservation” and “Mentorship Program: Experiences to Foster Synergies Between the Private and Conservation Sectors”. These discussions explored new pathways for collaboration and financing to boost conservation efforts across Latin America, the Caribbean, and Africa.
The goal of these panels was to highlight the strengthening of ties between the African Consortium of Environmental Funds (CAFÉ) and the Network of Environmental Funds of Latin America and the Caribbean (RedLAC) with the private sector. This collaboration seeks to enhance joint learning in critical areas such as innovative financing, capacity building, and knowledge management.
Both sessions emphasized the importance of building alliances with the private sector, finding new ways of doing things, and thinking “outside the box” in global biodiversity conservation efforts.
The BRIDGE Project’s participation in the RedLAC Congress underscores the commitment of environmental funds in Latin America, the Caribbean, and Africa to develop innovative and effective solutions to protect biodiversity and secure a sustainable future for these regions.
