RedLAC held the XXIII RedLAC Congress 2021 in its second virtual edition
• A total of 1,245 people from 82 countries participated in a forum that brought together Latin American and Caribbean environmental funds, strategic allies, government representatives, and donors to tackle conservation finance issues.
From September 28 to 30, the great annual event of our Network, the XXIII RedLAC 2021 Congress, was held in its second virtual edition, co-organized by Forever Costa Rica Association and Fondo Nacional de Financiamiento Forestal (FONAFIFO) of Costa Rica.
Under the theme “Road to 2030: the role and added value of environmental funds in meeting global objectives,” there was a space for sharing experiences and case studies of Latin American and Caribbean environmental funds.
The event featured 47 high-level conservation-related panelists and moderators from 22 different countries. In addition, a total of 1,245 people from 82 countries registered as attendees.
Some of the topics addressed were the role and added value of environmental funds to achieve global goals, bilateral and multilateral resource mobilization, nature-based solutions, and launching the BRIDGE project between RedLAC and CAFÉ. Other sessions also discussed the power of partnerships, standards of practice, green and blue economy, and challenges and achievements of the Project Finance for Permanence (PfP).
To guarantee the success of the congress, important sponsorships were obtained from strategic allies of environmental funds, such as J.P. Morgan Private Bank, whose Managing Director and Head of Investments and Advice for Latin America, Christophe Aba, led the ninth session of the congress on economics green and blue as tools for global resilience and economic recovery. From this experience, J.P. Morgan Private Bank highlighted:

Additionally, donations from important conservation stakeholders such as The David and Lucile Packard Foundation, World Wildlife Fund (WWF), and Fundación PACÍFICO were vital to the event.
This event encouraged learning and innovation for biodiversity conservation with environmental funds, strategic allies, donors, impact investors, government representatives, and the global community of conservation finance until it’s possible to meet again in person.
