CAF joins as a strategic partner of the RedLAC 2025 International Environmental Funds Congress.
From the Pitipalena – Añihué Marine Protected Area, located in Chilean Patagonia, the incorporation of CAF – the Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean – as a strategic partner of the RedLAC 2025 Congress was officially announced. The congress is organized by the Latin American and Caribbean Network of Environmental Funds (RedLAC) and its host environmental fund, Fondo Naturaleza Chile.
By joining as a strategic partner, the multilateral organization seeks to foster dialogue and action on new financing mechanisms, biodiversity protection initiatives, and improvements in the livelihoods of communities and ecosystems across Latin America and the Caribbean.
“At CAF, we reaffirm our commitment to the sustainable development of Latin America and the Caribbean through this strategic alliance with RedLAC and Fondo Naturaleza Chile. The RedLAC 2025 Congress represents a unique opportunity to strengthen innovative financing mechanisms that protect our natural capital while promoting inclusive economic development. We aim to catalyze investments that support biodiversity conservation and community well-being, in line with the goals of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework and the region’s climate commitments,” said Sergio Díaz-Granados, Executive President of CAF.
The RedLAC Congress, to be held in Chile from September 29 to October 3, 2025, has become a unique forum that brings together environmental funds, strategic partners, international cooperation agencies, impact investors, government representatives, and communities committed to protecting natural heritage.
“I am honored to announce that the Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean (CAF) is joining us as a strategic partner for our RedLAC 2025 Congress. This is the most important event on conservation finance, where we’ll explore how environmental funds become engines of development by supporting strategies for conservation and restoration of natural resources, landscapes, and ecosystems in our countries,” stated Jorge Oviedo, President of RedLAC.
The memorandum of understanding signed between CAF and Fondo Naturaleza Chile also aims to identify solutions for the conservation of key ecosystems in Latin America. Additionally, the partnership will work to advance a high-impact agenda focused on ecosystems, with the goal of mobilizing financing to:
• Fulfill the objectives and targets of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework
• Support Chile’s National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan
• Present results at COP30 in Belém do Pará, Brazil, and at the 2026 Convention on Biological Diversity COP17
“We are very pleased to announce that CAF is joining not only as a strategic partner of the RedLAC Congress, which helps promote an international green finance and conservation funding agenda, but also in support of meeting global biodiversity goals and targets,” said Eugenio Rengifo, Executive Director of Fondo Naturaleza Chile.
“This highlights CAF’s commitment to protecting strategically interconnected ecosystems that provide essential benefits for the livelihoods of local communities,” he added.
