480 hours of overfishing in Conservation Units supported by the Amazon Protected Areas Program (ARPA)

A contribution of R$ 6 million from the Amazon Protected Areas Program (ARPA), the largest tropical forest protection initiative in the world, will enable 480 hours of overfishing in Conservation Units supported by the program in the Amazon to reinforce the fight against deforestation and illegal logging.

In the images, you can see one of the first operations, which was carried out in the Jamanxim National Park, in the southwest of Pará.

The surveys will be carried out by teams from the Instituto Chico Mendes de Conservação da Biodiversidade (ICMBio) and will take place in other universities in the coming months. ARPA is an initiative of the Ministry of the Environment and has FUNBIO as financial manager.
