Innovative partnerships for biodiversity conservation! Project BRIDGE unites RedLAC and CAFÉ in an unprecedented initiative.

This initiative will benefit more than 46 Environmental Funds in 44 countries in Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean.

The BRIDGE Project is an innovative initiative that seeks to integrate the private sector and financial mechanisms into biodiversity conservation efforts in Latin America and Africa. With an investment of €4,830,000 from various sources, including the French Global Environment Facility (FFEM), the Mava Foundation, and in-kind and leveraged funds from RedLAC and CAFÉ member Environmental Funds, the project will run from 2022 to 2025.

One of the specific objectives of the BRIDGE Project is to promote strategic alliances between the private sector and the Environmental Funds that are part of RedLAC and CAFÉ, to jointly achieve the 2030 action goals for biodiversity conservation. Private sector participation is essential to address global environmental and social challenges.

Another specific objective of the project is to strengthen the capacities of the Environmental Funds that are members of RedLAC and CAFÉ from different institutional perspectives. Strengthening these capacities is key to guaranteeing effective and sustainable biodiversity management in Latin America and Africa.

The BRIDGE Project is particularly innovative because it integrates and benefits two networks of Environmental Funds from different geographies. RedLAC and CAFÉ will work together on the project, leveraging their respective experiences and expertise to promote biodiversity conservation in Latin America and Africa.

The project aims to contribute to biodiversity conservation through an integrated and sustainable approach. To this end, the project will work on the identification, design and implementation of innovative financial mechanisms for the sustainable management of biodiversity in Latin America and Africa. It will also support the implementation of conservation initiatives in both regions, promoting the active participation of local communities and the generation of technical and management capacities.
