Fondo Acción and Conserva Aves join forces to protect Colombia's biodiversity.


Recently, a two-day workshop on project management was held with the 12 winning organizations to protect territories of life in Colombia, within the framework of the Conserva Aves initiative in Latin America. Thanks to these selected projects in Colombia, more than 28,000 hectares in 12 municipalities in 9 departments of the country will be protected. This is a crucial contribution to the national commitments agreed upon in the Biodiversity and Climate Conventions.

This innovative and ambitious program for the long-term conservation of threatened, endemic and migratory birds seeks to protect 100 new areas (two million hectares) in nine countries in the region.Protected areas are an essential way to safeguard birds and biodiversity, mitigate climate change and support the efforts of local communities for their sustainable development. Therefore, the Conserva Aves initiative focuses on the creation of protected areas, with and for the people, to protect threatened, endemic and migratory birds in Latin America.

The workshop, organized by Fondo Acción, brought together the 12 winning organizations to work on project management and the protection of territories of life in Colombia, as well as to support the sustainable development of local communities.
