Saint Lucia, host of the RedLAC 2024 Congress.

St. Lucia will be the epicenter of the RedLAC 2024 Congress, a transcendental milestone for conservation and sustainable development in Latin America and the Caribbean.

The idyllic Caribbean island is getting ready to host the next Annual Congress of RedLAC, the leading network of Environmental Funds in the region. This highly relevant event is expected to be a turning point for biodiversity and sustainable development.

With its iconic Twin Pitons Mountains and the uniqueness of being the only place with a volcano accessible by car in the world, St. Lucia provides the perfect environment to foster collaboration between the region's Environmental Funds. With 70% of its territory covered by lush tropical rainforests, this compact but richly diverse island has been awarded 14 times as the best honeymoon destination, as well as being the birthplace of two Nobel Prize winners.

The Latin American and Caribbean Network of Environmental Funds (RedLAC), created in 1999, has led the development of financial mechanisms with measurable impact at the local, regional and global levels. With 28 members in 19 countries, RedLAC has established itself as a driving force for biodiversity conservation and sustainable development.

This annual event will bring together the environmental funding community, strategic partners, international cooperation, impact investors, government representatives and members of the global conservation finance community. Participants will have the unique opportunity to gain insight into the global conservation finance outlook, network with funders and environmental champions, and leave with the tools necessary to generate lasting impact.

The RedLAC 2024 Congress in St. Lucia represents a crucial opportunity to foster collaboration and concrete action in favor of biodiversity and sustainable development in Latin America and the Caribbean. Participants can expect not only valuable educational experiences, but also the opportunity to actively contribute to a more sustainable future for the region and the planet.

This event will be historic as it marks the first time the Congress comes to the Eastern Caribbean. St. Lucia, scheduled to host the XXVI RedLAC Congress in October 2024, thus becomes the first country in the region to receive this honor.

The event is organized by the Saint Lucia National Conservation Fund-SLUNCF, with the support of The Caribbean Biodiversity Fund (CBF) and in coordination with the Fondo de Inversión Ambiental de El Salvador (FIAES), which holds the presidency of RedLAC 2022-2025. The four-day face-to-face event is expected to attract approximately 250 delegates from 19 countries under the theme 30x30x30: The Road to 2030, reflecting the global commitment to conserve 30% of terrestrial and marine habitat by that date.

Funding for participation in the Congress and preparation for the RedLAC 2024 Congress was provided by the French Development Agency (AFD) and the Fonds français pour l'environnement mondial (FFEM) through the Caribbean Regional Architecture for Biodiversity Project (CRAB). This project will contribute to the development of sustainable resources for the conservation of ecosystems in the Caribbean.

St. Lucia awaits conservation leaders in Latin America and the Caribbean with open arms. Save the date and learn more at the official website of the RedLAC Congress 2024: redlac-congress2024.org.
