The Rainforests of Amanhã! Implementation of the state plan for the ecological restoration of the Atlantic forest.

The Brazilian Biodiversity Fund (FUNBIO) has launched the call for the implementation of the state plan for the ecological restoration of the Atlantic Forest through the "Rainforest of the Dawn" program. This initiative aims to promote the recovery of the Atlantic Forest ecosystems in nine strategic municipalities in the state of Rio de Janeiro.

With a total investment of R$ 25,000,000.00 (twenty-five million reais), FUNBIO invites civil associations, private foundations and cooperatives to participate in this call. The non-profit organizations will be able to present proposals of ecological restoration projects that contribute directly to the implementation of the Plan of Restoration and Forest Development of the State of Rio de Janeiro.

The proposals should be developed in the strategic territories of the municipalities that make up Rio de Janeiro's Hydrographic Region V, namely: Taboraí, Tanguá, Guapimirim, Magé, Cachoeiras de Macacu, Niterói, São Gonçalo, Maricá and Rio Bonito.

The approved projects are expected to cover a total of 600 hectares of degraded areas, with a minimum restoration size of 50 hectares per proposal. These initiatives should be implemented within a maximum period of 48 months from the date of selection.

The schedule establishes that the call for proposals was published on May 31, 2023. Interested organizations will be able to clarify their doubts until July 26, 2023, and the final deadline for the submission of proposals is July 31, 2023, until 6:00 p.m. (Brazilian time).

FUNBIO, as the operational manager of the Atlantic Forest Fund-RJ, invites all non-profit institutions to join this important ecological restoration initiative.
