"From collaboration to action: Fonafifo and Fondo Naturaleza de Chile join forces in favor of the planet".

In an unprecedented event, Fonafifo (Fondo Nacional de Financiamiento Forestal) of Costa Rica, has enthusiastically received an outstanding team of Chilean professionals, representatives of various institutions, including Fondo Naturaleza of Chile and a member of RedLAC. This fruitful meeting is the result of the close collaboration developed during the last RedLAC 2022 Congress, held in Quito, Ecuador.

The commitment to environmental protection and the search for innovative solutions are the fundamental pillars that unite Fonafifo and Fondo Naturaleza de Chile. Both institutions share the vision of promoting sustainable development and the conservation of natural resources through the implementation of programs that generate a positive impact on society.

"RedLAC provides these spaces for collaboration and union among members, and this exchange of experiences is a clear example of this, we are excited to receive our Chilean colleagues, with Eugenio Rengifo, Executive Director of Fondo Naturaleza de Chile and share our best practices in the Payment for Environmental Services (PES) Program. In addition, we look forward to learning from their experiences and further strengthening our programs to replicate them in other regions of the planet".

Jorge Mario Rodriguez, Executive Director of Fonafifo.

The Payment for Environmental Services Program, implemented by Fonafifo, has been recognized as a successful strategy for the conservation and restoration of ecosystems. Through this program, an economic incentive is granted to landowners who contribute to the protection of natural resources and carbon sequestration.

The exchange between Fonafifo and Fondo Naturaleza will enable a flow of knowledge and enriching experiences that will further boost joint efforts to protect the environment. The collaboration between these sister institutions represents a significant step forward in the search for sustainable solutions and the creation of similar programs in other regions of the world.

This historic exchange of experiences between Fonafifo and Fondo Naturaleza strengthens the conviction that collaboration and union between institutions are fundamental to achieving effective environmental protection and guaranteeing a sustainable future for generations to come.

As part of this visit, a series of activities and working meetings will be held to share knowledge, best practices and lessons learned in the field of environmental conservation. Representatives of Fonafifo and Fondo Naturaleza will participate in round tables, workshops and field visits to learn about the projects and programs implemented by both institutions.

The exchange of experiences will allow to analyze and evaluate the effectiveness of the strategies used in Fonafifo's Payment for Environmental Services Program and this will help to identify areas for improvement and opportunities for future collaboration.

In addition, this meeting will strengthen the ties between the two institutions and lay the groundwork for possible future partnerships and joint projects. Transboundary collaboration is essential to address environmental challenges that transcend national borders and promote a holistic approach to nature conservation.

The importance of this visit lies not only in the exchange of knowledge, but also in the powerful message it sends to the rest of the international community. Collaboration between countries and the joining of institutions in protecting the environment are fundamental to achieving the goals of sustainable development and ensuring an equitable and prosperous future for all.

The exchange between Fonafifo and Fondo Naturaleza de Chile represents a milestone in regional collaboration for environmental protection. Through this alliance, the transfer of knowledge, the strengthening of environmental programs and the creation of lasting ties between the institutions are laying the foundations for solid and sustainable cooperation in nature conservation, leaving a legacy of environmental preservation for future generations.
